Engineering Accreditation
The education accreditation promoted by IEET is a non-governmental, peer-review mechanism, aiming to be outcomes-based, ensuring the quality of education in departments, i.e., the results of student learning. Departments voluntarily participate in this periodic review process to demonstrate their continued compliance with IEET accreditation standards.
The goal of IEET accreditation is not comparison or ranking, but to verify that departments can continuously achieve their self-defined educational objectives and that their graduates possess the core competencies required for their profession. Furthermore, IEET accreditation encourages a department-centered approach, maintaining education quality and pursuing continuous improvement through the accreditation mechanism.
"Engineering and Technology Education Accreditation" applies to degree-granting programs in universities, technological universities, institutes of technology, and junior colleges recognized by the Ministry of Education. IEET has been responsible, since 2004, for promoting accreditation of domestic programs in Engineering (EAC), Computing (CAC), Technology (TAC), Architecture (AAC), and Design (DAC). IEET accreditation is conducted on a six-year cycle, divided into "periodic review" and "midterm review." The "periodic review" is a comprehensive assessment every six years, while the "midterm review" focuses on subsequent key evaluations within the same cycle based on prior accreditation results.
